Parents Visit to School

We invite parents to visit our school and become acquainted with the facility as well as the people in the facility. Blue Ridge becomes a safer, more efficient place for children to learn by utilizing the following guidelines:

1. To maintain a secure facility for students and staff we are now utilizing an automatic security system at the front doors. To gain entrance, you must announce yourself using the intercom and wait for the door to be unlocked by office staff. Everyone must have a photo ID to gain entrance into the building even if you are a regular visitor or volunteer.

2. Visitors and volunteers must report to the main office to obtain a visitor pass.

3. Visitors and volunteers are not allowed out on the playground.

4. You should avoid visiting just before a holiday and the first and last week of the school year.

5. Classroom visits and conferences must be arranged with the teacher prior to arriving to the school. We value your child’s instructional time and conferences need to be scheduled at a time when the teacher does not have other instructional or supervisory responsibilities.

6. Preschool children may not visit unless accompanied by an adult who will remove the child if disruptive to the class setting.

7. Parents who wish to eat lunch with their children must inform the school office no later than 10:30 a.m. of that day. Please be clear about whether you are eating a school lunch or if you are bringing in a lunch. This helps with our lunch count for the day. Parents may only bring in lunch for their child. You may only sit with your child. Other students cannot be pulled out to eat with you.

8. Parents, visitors, and volunteers eating in the cafeteria need to observe the cafeteria rules which includes the cafeteria light system utilized for monitoring consist noise level.
